The short version

  • The game takes a screenshot of your screen to build the level. It stays in memory on your Mac while you play and is thrown away when the match ends.
  • Clips are recorded into memory and become a file only when you export one.
  • Gameplay stats and crash reports are sent only if you turn them on. Both are off by default.
  • No accounts. Your purchase is tied to a license key, and your email stays with our payment provider.

What the app sends

Always

  • Update check — app version, macOS major version and chip type, to offer the right update. Once a day and at launch. We count these to know how many copies are in use, nothing more.
  • Settings file — the app downloads a small signed config file from our site. Nothing is sent with it.
  • License check — if you bought Pro: your key, a random activation ID and the app version. At activation and every 14 days.

Only if you turn it on

  • Anonymous gameplay stats (PostHog, hosted in the EU) — modes, weapons, match length, frame rate, and a random ID you can reset in Settings → Privacy. Never your screenshot, window names, or anything you type.
  • Crash reports (Sentry) — the crash stack, app version, Mac model and macOS version. If automatic reports are off, the app asks once after a crash and sends that single report only if you say yes.

Change both anytime in Settings → Privacy. Turning one off stops sending immediately and clears anything waiting to be sent.

This website

  • No cookies and no ad trackers.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and referrers without cookies or fingerprinting.
  • The download link counts downloads by app version and campaign tag. IP addresses are not stored.
  • “Send to my Mac” uses your phone’s share menu. We never see where you send the link.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Polar processes your email, payment details and billing country under its own privacy policy and sends you the license key. We receive the order and the key, not your card details, and we don’t keep a list of customer emails.

Online rooms

Online play is not available yet. When it is, a host’s screenshot will be shared only with players the host accepts, encrypted, and deleted from the server when the room closes. This section will be updated before launch.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, or to delete it, at support@destroyanydesktop.com. Since we don’t link stats to people, the quickest way to wipe them is Settings → Privacy → Reset ID. For purchase data, we’ll forward your request to Polar.

Changes

If what we collect changes in a meaningful way, the app will ask for your consent again before sending anything new.
